HMD Global News, as Nokia’s smartphone licensee, has launched the latest smartphone in the G series family, which is called Nokia G42. According to the company, the Nokia G42 is the first 5G device that can be repaired by the user himself, even to replace the battery and the screen that is damaged or has decreased its performance due to prolonged use. to last longer.

To support devices that can be repaired at home, HMD Global is partnering with iFixit, a community that likes to take apart and repair various devices.

The task of iFixit will be to provide guidance, tools and all the necessary components to repair the Nokia G42, as was the case with the previous Nokia G22 series.

As quoted by Giz China, the Nokia G42 offers two color variants, namely So Grey and So Purple, and for the retail price in Europe, the Nokia G42 6/128GB variant retails at €249.

As the company explains, the casing of the Nokia G42 device is made from 65 percent recycled material.By passing 2 times more impact test processes and using a new pressure test method, the Nokia G42 is claimed to have a higher resistance.

The Nokia G42’s performance is powered by the Snapdragon 480 Plus 5G chipset. Although the chipset is rated as lower class, Nokia claims that it can handle a number of tasks with ease. The chipset is paired with either a 4/128GB or 6/128GB RAM/RAM storage combination. This smartphone supports 5G, 4G LTE connectivity, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax-ready, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC and GPS.

The storage space can be upgraded to a larger one, with the additional microSD slot available. The operating system running is Android 13, which promises to get OS updates for two years and security upgrades every month for three years.

The Nokia G42 is backed by a battery with a capacity of 5,000 mAH and supports 18W fast charging. And for battery durability, the Nokia G42 is claimed to last three days.***
