Fujifilm X-T5 Still Still For Photography & Videography

Multymeter.comTechnology: Almost all camera manufacturers have recently been competing to promote the sophistication of the videographic features of their newest cameras.

As a videographer or photographer, besides the video features, you also have to accept a design that is more suitable for recording videos. In addition, with components and designs that accommodate photo & video needs in one camera, camera prices and weight have slowly crept up from generation to generation.

Camera design

The presence of the Fujifilm X-T5 seems to return to Fujifilm X’s identity as a more photo-centric camera. In terms of design, the X-T5 is very similar to the X-T1, Fujifilm’s legendary camera whose model is like a film/analog camera.

The main feature of the Fujifilm X-T1 is that it has a shutter speed dial on top of the camera, and also has a viewfinder, which can be helpful when shooting during the day.

With a lighter weight and compact Fujifilm than the X-T4. The weight of the camera along with the battery and SD card only weighs 565 grams, while the X-T4 reaches 607 grams.

The X-T5 has an LCD screen similar to the X-T3, which can be tilted up and sideways, but not forward. The main difference between the X-T5 and the previous X-T series is that the X-T5 does not have an optional battery grip.

The X-T5’s sensor and processor are the same as the Fujifilm X-H2 which we have reviewed. So the features of the X-T5 are also very similar, namely 40MP, ISO 125 and a maximum electronic shutter speed of 1/180 thousand. Such a fast shutter speed can help when shooting in very bright light conditions.

With such a large resolution, the performance of successive photos is fifteen shots per second with the mechanical shutter but the electronic shutter is faster at 20 shots per second.

The X-T5 also has built-in stabilization, and this technology allows  pixel shift, which can produce super high-resolution photos, 160MP, but unfortunately, files must be combined through software.

Videography Features

This camera design is indeed more aimed at photographers, but since the new processor and sensor are capable of producing good videos, why not implement them all?

Thankfully, the Fujifilm X-T5’s video specifications are not trimmed, the quality is similar to the XH2 camera, namely 6K/30p, 4k 60p, 4:2:2 10 bit dynamic range 13 stops. The rolling shutter is still there but it’s more minimal than the previous generation.

It’s just that the X-T5 doesn’t have an optional external cooling fan like the one on the X-H2/s. So the recording time will be limited by overheating, the length of which depends on conditions, for hot conditions (40°C), it may be limited to around 20-30 minutes at the highest specifications.

To make it easier to change the photo to video mode, the X-T5 has a special lever. In video mode, the screen display will be different as well as the Q menu, making this camera practical and easy to operate for both photos and videos.

Fujinon XF 30mm f/2.8 Macro Lens

Together with the Fujifilm X-T5, Fujifilm launched a new macro lens with a 30mm focal length with f/2.8 aperture. Previously, Fujifilm already had two longer focal length macro lenses, namely the XF 60mm f/2.4 and XF 80mm f/2.8.

30mm which is equivalent to 46mm, is classified as a standard focal length and in the macro world, this lens is wide. A lens like this is suitable for still life, table top photography, including food photography which includes the background/ambient.

The results of this lens are sharp and detailed at any aperture, as friends can see in the sample photos.

The image quality of the X-T5 with a 40MP APS-C sensor is very good in terms of detail and color, even for high ISO it is still quite good up to ISO 3200, for ISO 6400 or above I suggest it is better used in emergency conditions, for example conditions with poor lighting. very minimal.

For me, the presence of the Fujifilm X-T5 provides an alternative choice of a compact high-resolution (40MP) camera for travel and various other types of photography. The good news is that the price is also around 4-5 million cheaper compared to the Fujifilm X-H2.

For those of you who want a more complete design and features, the Fujifilm X-H2 is indeed better and has a more professional impression, but for fans of more compact cameras, the X-T5 is a more suitable camera.

Fujifilm has yet to officially announce the X-T5 and 30mm macro lenses, but they are estimated to cost around Rp. 28 million and 9 million Rupiah. The official announcement will be announced on November 8, 2022.
