Through the company’s official blog, Google stated that web managers and developers can now add the passkey feature to their applications and websites.

Google targets the use of the passkey to be more widespread by the end of this year in line with the release of the API for all Android applications. Once this API is released, Android phone users will be given the option between a passkey and a password when logging into an app or website.

Passkeys, according to Google, are more secure than passwords and other authentication methods that are vulnerable to phishing.

Code used via passkey is non-reusable, will not leak, and is protected against phishing attacks.

On the other hand, the way to use a password is similar to a password. Users only need to provide authentication confirmation via the system available on their device locking system, such as fingerprints.

If a user’s gadget is lost, the password stored on the phone and computer is synced and backed up via the cloud. In addition, the passkey on the cellphone can also be used to access the platform via other nearby gadgets (such as a computer or television).

Creating a password on an Android phone is similar to how to use a password manager app. Users simply create a passkey by registering one authentication method, usually fingerprint or facial scanning.
