Multymeter.com-Sport: An interesting moment when Honda tested the new 2024 version of the RC213V at Jerez, which was tested by Stefan Bradl. The sound of the RC213V 2024 engine was said to sound different, although the V4 characteristics were still strong, according to various reports at the circuit. The roar of the RC213V 2024 was slightly different. It barked more and that’s what sparked rumours that Honda would switch the engine from the Big Bang to the Screamer.
Honda’s most powerful engine is a four-cylinder V4 engine with a tuned ignition configuration. Each cylinder of this engine fires every 180 degrees, resulting in a constant explosion. This makes the Screamer engine more aggressive and responsive in character, and produces more power, especially at high engine speeds.
The Honda Screamer engine was first used in the Honda RC1000V4 racing motorbike in 1992. This motorbike successfully won the world title in the 500 cc class in 1994 and 1995. In 2002, the Screamer engine was used again in the Honda RC211V racing motorbike. This motorbike successfully won the world title in the MotoGP class for six consecutive years from 2002 to 2007.
In 2016, Honda changed the ignition configuration of the RC213V engine in a big way. This setting makes the RC213V engine smoother and more stable, and reduces the risk of rear tyre slippage. However, the Screamer engine still has several advantages over the Big Bang engine, namely:
○ More power, especially at higher engine speeds.
○ Faster response
○ Louder and more distinctive sound
Today, Screamer engines are still used in several Honda race bikes, such as the Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP. This motorbike uses a four-cylinder V4 engine with a spectacular ignition configuration.
Here are some of the advantages and disadvantages of Honda Screamer engines:
• Excess:
○ More power, especially at higher engine speeds.
○ Faster response
○ Louder and more distinctive sound
• Lack:
○ More aggressive and wild character.
○ Higher risk of rear tyre skidding.
○ Difficult to control at low speeds.
We are looking forward together to all the changes on the circuit, if Honda will make a comeback after being in decline for the last few years.***
